Each Destiny user is considered a patron and must have a patron record that associates them with the materials they check out, fines they incur, and any patron transactions. Typically, you edit a patron when patrons:
Transfer to or from another location (school or public library)
Alert you to incorrect information in their records
Important: If you have an automated patron update process in place, any manual edits to a patron record are overwritten when the automated patron update runs.
Notes: Users with the Add/Edit patronspermission can edit patrons associated with their school. Users with the Manage Patrons for the District or Search for patrons across the district permission can edit patrons from any sites in the district.Patron records that are not associated with a homeroom cannot take advantage of all the features.
To search the database and edit a patron:
Select Admin > Manage Patrons.
To search for a patron, scan or type the patron’s barcode in the Find field.
Press Enter or click Search.
Next to the patron you want, click Edit. The Edit Patron page appears. Note: District users see an +Add Additional Site button. When a patron is associated with more than one site, the Site Information section lists all the sites. You can edit, transfer, or remove site associations.
Make changes as needed. In the User Name field, use special characters (such as periods, dashes, underscores and apostrophes) to minimize the risk of patrons being considered duplicates or skipped during a patron import.Example: jsmith, j.smith, j-smith, j_smith, j’smith are each considered different patrons.
To print a label when you save, select the Print Label on Save checkbox.Note: For more information, see Print patron barcode labels.
