Generate a Collection Statistics – Summary report
Examine the circulation, age, and value statistics of your collection. The Collection Statistics – Summary report shows circulation statistics for the current day, month, and year, or drill down into call number ranges for more specific details.
| Notes:Your district may limit the time and days when certain reports and tasks are performed. If you cannot run a report, talk to your Destiny Administrator.In District Back Office, collection statistics are comprised of two reports: District Collection Statistics by Call Number and District Collection Statistics by Library. |
To generate the report:
- Select Reports > Library Reports.
- Under Statistics, click one of the following:
- Collection Statistics – Summary (site)
- District Collection Statistics by Call Number (district)
- District Collection Statistics by Library (district)
Collection Statistics – Summary and District Collection Statistics by Call Number
Use the statistics provided on the three tabs of these reports:
- Circulation: An overall look at your collection statistics. Circulations for today, this month, this year, and total are displayed by Dewey range. You can drill in to each Dewey range to get more detailed information. This report can also be customized at a site.
- Age: An overall average age of your collection by Dewey range for copies that have dates within their record. You can drill into each Dewey range to get more detailed information.
- Value: An overall value of your collection by Dewey range for copies that have prices within their record. The report shows actual value for copies with prices and creates an estimated value based on an average price for copies without price information.
District Collection Statistics by Library
Use the statistics provided on the three tabs of these reports:
- Circulation: An overall look at your circulations statistics by school for today, this month, this year, and total. When you click a school link, you will see the overall circulations by Dewey range for that school.
- Age: An overall average age of your collection by school for copies that have dates within their record. When you click a school link, you will see the overall age by Dewey range for that school.
- Value: An overall value of your collection by school for copies that have prices within their record. The report shows actual value for copies with prices and creates an estimated value based on an average price for copies without price information. When you click a school link, you will see the overall value by Dewey range for that school.
- Batch: Gives the district user, with the Create District Collections Stats by Library via Batch Request permission, the option to schedule the report to run at off-peak times.
- To save the schedule based on your selections and overwrite previously scheduled reports, click Save Setup.
- If on another tab and clicking links to see specific data, the Batch tab disappears. Click the District Collection Statistics by Library breadcrumb, and the Batch tab will reappear.
| Note: If the dates, numbers, and currencies are not in the correct format, the Destiny Administrator can change the regional format and currency. |
Custom View at a Site
From the bottom of the Circulation tab, sites can customize the report view. Limit it by call number range(s), time frame, and/or number of circulations.
| Examples:Track the circulation of materials in your collection that are being recommended for curriculum-specific projects.Identify sections of your collection that need to be weeded, enhanced through additional acquisition, or promoted for better usage of the current resources available.Identify the value of your collection for insurance claims or budget requests, such as estimating the cost of replacing or updating a portion of your collection. |
| Note: The Destiny Administrator must configure when the statistical year starts. This is done in Setup > Sites. Edit the district, and set the Statistical Year Starts In drop-down to the appropriate month. |
